In the summer of 2007, WMU NC sponsored its very first mission trip. A group of 10 women from all over NC worked at the Gano Mission Center in Houston, TX. The center’s mission is to serve impoverished communities in the inner city of Houston by providing for the physical and spiritual needs of people. The WMU NC team worked with several of the center's ministries, which include food and clothing distribution, Kids' Clubs, Preteen/Teen Clubs, Christian Women's Job Corps, Senior Adult Ministry, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and more.
Those who participated in the first trip are leading other trips in 2008 in which women across the state will have the opportunity to participate.
