WMU NC encourages everyone to support relief efforts in Haiti. Here are two ways you can help:

  • Visit www.baptistsonmission.org to find ways you can help insure the people of Haiti receive both physical and spiritual care by supporting the efforts of NC Baptist Men. You also may track their progress, read specific prayer requests and find links to pictures of the work being done by following NCBMHaitiRelief on Twitter or ncbmhaitirelief on Facebook.
  • Donate to national WMU's HEART Fund (Humanitarian Emergency Aid for Rebuilding Tomorrow), which allows national WMU and the WMU Foundation to respond to requests from WMU leaders across the country and around the world during emergencies and natural disasters. For more info, click here.

Shout!2Stop Trafficking and Jubilee Fellowship are sponsoring a Human Trafficking Awareness Conference on Thursday, February 18, 2010. Pastors, church leaders, and other interested individuals are invited to come learn about the problem of human trafficking and find out ways they can work to stop it. Missions Blitz in Red Springs is coming up on March 21-27, 2010. We will be leading in work projects and missions activities, offering you opportunities to use your gifts, skills and talents to impact this part of our state for Christ through ministry to women and children, nursing home ministry, home repairs, general construction, painting, cleaning and other projects. 2010 GA, CiA & Children's Mission DaysGA, CiA and Children's Mission Days are coming soon! Your children's groups are sure to enjoy these fun-filled days of recreation, crafts, visiting with missionaries, songs, cultural activities and nature. 2010 Missions Day at the Women's ACC TournamentMissions Day at the Women's ACC Tournament is coming up on Saturday, March 6! Come and enjoy the interactive Fan Fest, see some of the country’s premier basketball and hear Women’s ACC Legend Meghan Saake Knokey of the University of Miami speak about her faith and career. Registration opens January 2. Cost is $14 per person, which includes speaker, fan fest, game ticket and lunch. Download the registration form here.

Promotional materials are available for download there; printed materials will be sent to churches early in 2010. WMU NC's missions and ministry endeavors depend on your support of the Heck-Jones® Offering. We hope you will consider being a part of God's work through WMU NC.

By the time you receive this issue of Tarheel Talk, most of you will be fully engaged in Christmas offering emphases – weeks of prayer, international missions studies and offering promotions and collections. Wonderful!

No matter how you choose to support our Baptist missionaries serving all around the world, it is a heart like Lottie Moon’s that calls us to give at this special time of year: “Need it be said why the week before Christmas is chosen? Is not the festive season, when families and friends exchange gifts in memory of The Gift laid on the altar of the world for the redemption of the human race, the most appropriate time to consecrate a portion from abounding riches and scant poverty to send forth the good tidings of great joy into all the earth?”

This a great opportunity. Panelists meet other outstanding NC Acteens, plan NC Acteens & youth state events, attend the panel retreat, participate in NC Acteens camp and are featured in Tarheel Talk. Visit the Advisory Panel page for more information.     Missions Testimony Quote
    God's Word tells us in Matthew 19:13-14 when the little children were brought to Jesus, he said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Some of my fondest memories of WMU are singing "Jesus Loves the Little Children," hearing this scripture and learning that even I could be a missionary. I remember how much I enjoyed learning about missionaries - and learning that Jesus loved me and ALL the children of the world. I owe so much to the wonderful mission leaders that touched my life and taught a little girl that she could be a missionary wherever she was! I discovered that I did not have to travel around the world, far from home, but that I could be a missionary at school, home and wherever God placed me. More...
