Grandparents, Fathers, Mothers, Daughters and Sons . . . Missions is for Everyone!
WMU has a rich history of involving families in missions. When one looks back at WMU’s history and plans presented in our magazines and general materials through the years, one finds a great many references to involving families in missions throughout their pages. For decades, WMU has encouraged family missions giving and goal setting, families using vacation time to visit mission spots along the way, family mission prayer times, teaching missions in the home and more.
In recent years, responding to a growing sense of the importance of families being involved in missions together, WMU initiated a more formal approach to teaching and encouraging families to do missions together and began producing more resources specifically designed for family missions. Below are some suggested resources for learning about and doing family missions as well as information about specific things WMU does to promote and involve families in missions.
You may want to consider forming a Families on Mission group for your church or having various family or intergenerational missions projects. However you choose to do it, you will find the materials from national WMU to be helpful. They are available at www.wmustore.com or by calling customer service at 800.968.7301.
