WMU NC Leadership Network
What is the WMU Leadership Network?

It is a group of trained, gifted, passionate, volunteer leaders who represent various areas of WMU leadership, ministries and focused groups.

What specific groups are included at this point?
  • WMU Leadership – WMU/Churchwide, Adults (Women on Mission, Adults on Mission, Sisters Who Care, and MyMissionFulfilled), Students (Acteens, Youth on Mission and Missions Interchange), Children (Girls in Action and Children in Action) and Preschool (Mission Friends)
  • Ministries – Military, poverty, missionaries, MissionsFEST/FamilyFEST, Baptist Nursing Fellowship, minister’s spouses, Camp Mundo Vista, Families on Mission, prayer partnerships, resources, Operation Christmas Child, Christian Women’s Job Corps/Christian Men’s Job Corps, restorative justice, World Religions and Global Cultures Center, Habitat for Humanity
  • Focused Groups – Professional Women, Young Women (ages 18-29), Deaf women, multicultural groups, Christian Women in Leadership Certification at Campbell University Divinity School
How does it work?

Members representing the various groups will meet at least once a year for updates and networking. Each group is led by a WMU Staff Network Specialist. The Network Specialist serves as the coordinator for each of the groups and leads the group in visioning and planning for that group. Even though the three groupings have specific responsibilities, they all will be connected at points through the network. The paid staff of WMU of North Carolina works with the network specialists in planning and conducting events for the WMU Leadership Network.

What does each group do?
  • WMU Leadership – The people serving on these groups will be the visioning and planning team for that particular WMU group. They will also be the trainers for various events.
  • Ministries – These representatives are involved in ministries already and will serve as the advocates for the ministries as well as the planners for future endeavors. They will also be the consultants in helping the WMU and focused groups in doing ministry and missions.
  • Focused Groups – These groups are being developed at this point. These persons will serve as an advocate for that group and will serve in a visioning capacity for how the group needs to develop.

To get information on any of the groups above or to enlist the services of a WMU Leadership Network Specialist or member contact the member themselves or contact the Network Specialist for that group. You may also contact the WMU office at 866-2108602 or jhigh@wmunc.org.

Churches and associations utilizing the services of the WMU Leadership Network members are asked to pay their travel expenses. If funds are not available for you to do that, contact Jan High at jhigh@wmunc.org for other options.
