Encouragement for this Anxious World

Written By: Amy Boone

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” (Psalm 103:2).

The New Living Translation interprets it this way: “Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things He does for me.”

Lately, people have been asking each other: “What is happening to this world?” I have heard others say that “Things have never been this bad before.” and “The world has gone crazy.”

Granted, these are hard times. We are having problems that we haven’t had before. Granted, a lot of bad things have happened at the same time. Some are so grievous and our hearts are heavy. Anxiety and fear seem to have taken a hold of our lives.

But, we must never forget all His benefits. In this Psalm, after David mentioned not forgetting the benefits, he spends the whole Psalm telling us what benefits we have as believers. Do you know all the benefits you get as a follower of Christ?

*Forgives all our sin and removes our transgressions from us

*heals our diseases

*renews our strength when we are weak

*is compassionate and gracious

*slow to anger, and abounding in love

*will bring justice to the oppressed

*His love for us is as high as the heavens

*wants a relationship with us and has made His way known to us

Have we focused on the bad and not all the good things He has done? Some of my friends and I have begun to text Bible verses of encouragement to each other. Do this in your Women on Mission group and to other friends and family. It will be a huge encouragement as we encourage those in our community.

Verse 19 says,” The Lord has prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom rules over all.”

He is still on the throne of this world. I am so thankful for His presence in my life and for all the benefits His grace bestows on us.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
