This year Woman's Missionary Union of North Carolina reinstituted the Heck-Jones® Offering to raise support for its missions and ministry endeavors. While February 11 -17 was designated the Week of Prayer and Heck-Jones® Offering promotion, WMU NC still needs your support. God continues to provide for WMU NC in remarkable ways, and we hope you will consider being a part of His provision.
Your church can promote the Heck-Jones® Offering at any time of the year. Please read more about the offering, what it supports and how you can get involved here. Offering resources are also available on that page.

Houston, we have a problem...

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few!
This summer, WMU NC takes on the challenge of reaching the people of inner city Houston for Christ. A volunteer mission team will work with NAMB missionary Ginger Smith and the Baptist Mission Centers of Houston to engage the needs of women and children – physical, emotional and especially spiritual. The mission centers’ ministries include food and clothing distribution, kids’ clubs, preteen/teen clubs, Christian Women’s Job Corps®, senior adult ministry, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and more. WMU NC mission team members will assist with the children’s clubs, senior adult ministry, and food and clothing ministry aspects of the mission centers’ work. Eight team members are needed.
The field: Houston, TX
The season: July 7-11, 2008
The task: Ministry with impoverished women and children
The laborers: You!
The cost: Approximately $500
The foremen: Hermine Powell and Mary Dodd
If you are interested in being a “harvester” in this mission work, please contact Hermine Powell at hermine_p@hotmail.com or 336.342.2843, or Mary Dodd at billmaryd@juno.com or 704.537.8603. Download a flyer about the trip here.

Harriett Bogges "lives the call" every day of the year. She calls and visits the sick and homebound every week and cooks and delivers meals to those who have had surgery or have been sick. She also has helped to start a second WMU group in her church that meets on Sunday evenings. She is someone you can call on to pray for someone, and you know it is done. Harriet's actions and prayer life demonstrate her commitment to living for Christ!
Nominate a group/individual who is "Living the Call" in your community to be spotlighted here. Read more stories of women who daily live the call here.
